Ida Trawick Threlkeld FEB 1878 – 12 Oct 1948
My great great grandpa, who went by W.R. , graduated from Barnes Medical School inSt. Louis, MO. April 27, 1904, and then moved to Ada Oklahoma where he and his wife met. Being a doctor in the Pontotoc county, there were many Indian reservations near his area. He was a house doctor, who travelled to people’s homes to help deliver children during home births. According to my grandpa, there are stories of him taking on clients from these Indian reservations with little to no money, and his selfless deeds helped deliver over 5000 Native American children in these poor reservation areas.
The Trawick family name can be traced through several generations, leading to a marriage between a surname Adams, which goes as far back to before the 1800s, and links my family to the third and fifth presidents of the United States, John Adams and John Quincy Adams.
